Ahhh this post reminded me of my 10 years working a corporate government job. I fully maintained my travel blog for 10 years at that desk 🤣 Used all my vacation time to travel back and forth to Jamaica, and then wrote the blog from my work desk. Then, I quit the job and moved to Jamaica 🇯🇲 🤣

This is good!

I appreciate my job, even thought it can be completely draining at times. But the added bonuses is that I get to work from home, go to the office once a week and have my weekends. I've fortunate to use my lunch breaks to squeeze in time to write and paint. If I have a quick thought about something good to write, I take a second to jot it down because my memory sucks sometimes.

same thing i was just telling Lynelle. I don’t trust my brain enough to let it remember the idea.

i got my clipboard and white paper right beside my on my machine, at all times now, to make my life easier.

I love how you infuse your paining into the writing. Talk about a master at heart work. 👌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🔥🔥

Yes. I used to write down everything on a notepad but when I started writing microfics, it was easier for me to use the Google Docs or Dropbox apps instead. I would hate to be out one day and get a really good idea and forget by the time I got home. Also, I leave voicenotes when I need to say ALL my thoughts out loud.

Thank you so much🙏🏽🥰

I know the paintings and stories can stand on their own but I like to include complimentary pieces of my work or from another artist. But I have portraits + microfictions that I specifically make together.

Love this Tobi! I'm a huge "paper writer" too. It often helps me if I'm stuck on a particular part or where to go with something. Looking forward to reading what you publish next!

Soph, you have no idea how bleeding on the page has really helped me to come home to myself in this past week. I found out the more I bled on the page, the more I looked at the man in the mirror. Which was useful feedback for me to be able to figure out who I am and how I want to show up in the world.

it feels good to know I have a buddy in Soph that is a paper writer as well. thanks, I appreciate you.

ps: is paper-writer an actual word or did we just invent it?

We’ve definitely just invented paper-writer! I’m so glad it’s having such a positive effect for you.

Dreams matter since they are sometimes the only driving force left. 9-5 environment is a major dream crusher but sometimes you have to hang in there. 🤞🏽
