I turn 30 today
I won’t be staying silent on this one
I love being quiet about most of my birthdays because I don’t like people swarming me with many generic “Happy Birthday Tobi” messages on WhatsApp.
But this year I need to make this as loud as possible because I’m climbing the 3rd floor YOOOOOO!!!!!
It’s year 30 today.
WOW. Tobi, you did 30!!
In the mood of 30, your younger self would like to say a few things:
Yes, you’ve been through your fair share of traumatic experiences in school to the point of almost getting kicked out of school and having to transfer to another school only to start over again. At the same time, you watched two sets of your colleagues graduate and go ahead in life as you remained stuck in school. You’ve also had your fair share of starting a project that got national recognition in a Major newspaper but ended up crumbling.
All of these have made you stronger. It shows that when life gives you lemons, you can start a lemonade drink business.
I say all that to say: Tobi, it’s about time!
It’s about time you chase all the things you CAN’T. Like breaking into the black Substack Hall of Fame writers list on your birthday eve:
Look at you!!
Now, It’s time to take it EVEN one step further. It’s time to elevate your writing. To a place where it pays for itself. To a place where it can provide for you and the future you want.
Your favourite basketball player is Steph Curry, wearing jersey number 30. I chose his picture (at the top of this message) to mark this important year in your life because his greatness resonates. Known for his ability to shoot from anywhere on the basketball court.
